I’m Rena. I’m a mezzo-soprano, pianist, occasional composer, and full-time graduate student in musicology. I started this blog three years ago, in undergrad, because I wanted a place to write out thoughts about music, life, and a life in music, and lots of them (most of them) didn’t fit into my papers, which are always based on Logical Fact and Sound Reasoning (er, I hope). I promptly forgot about the blog, but find myself in the same place three years later, still wanting a place where I can write about and share thoughts that aren’t citable, but are probably still worth sharing. So, you’ll find lots here about music, and -ology (especially surrounding music and gender in opera and song, the First Viennese School, and John Cage, my main areas of scholarly interest), but there will likely also be lots about feminism, religion, politics, and all manner of other stuff you’re not supposed to talk about at dinner parties. Read on, if you dare. 😉

Oh, and again, welcome!
